Barry Coyle Smyth LLP Solicitors is the result of the merger of two long-established and respected legal practices: Coyle Kennedy Smyth LLP, founded in 1906 and based in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, and Barry – Cunningham & Henderson, which evolved from Barry Hickey & Henderson, a firm established in 1989 with offices in Clones, Co. Monaghan and Carlingford, Co. Louth. Both firms brought with them strong reputations, deep community ties, and decades of experience in delivering practical, client-focused legal services.

 

Coyle Kennedy Smyth LLP served the Castleblayney area and wider Monaghan region for over a century. It was known for its reliability and general practice expertise, and was led for many years by Peter Coyle, Lynda Smyth, and Sean Kennedy, who upheld its tradition of professionalism, discretion, and service. Barry – Cunningham & Henderson developed from Barry Hickey & Henderson, which incorporated the respected practice of George E. Henderson, a solicitor who served the local community for nearly 50 years. Pauline Barry became a partner in Barry Hickey & Henderson in 1989 and, in more recent years, acted as principal and sole practitioner of Barry – Cunningham & Henderson, continuing its strong presence in Carlingford and the surrounding area.

 

This merger brings together two firms with strong local roots, allowing us to combine decades of legal experience and community service.
